Up to 70% of water consumed in this area of Andalucia is contaminated with potentially cancerous chemicals as the region’s radioactive water scandal, especially, in Almeria. According to Health Authorities the restrictions on the water will be in force “indefinitely” in the affected cities. Currently drinking water is provided to residents by local authorities.
