What happened

The French state energy company EDF, which specializes in nuclear energy, is engaged in discussions with the Swedish State Company Vattenfall on the development of nuclear energy in the Scandinavian country. For this, France plans to build several nuclear reactors in Sweden, according to a recently signed agreement.

At the recently concluded UN Climate Summit, COP28, France led a group of 20 countries in signing a commitment to triple nuclear energy capacity by 2050 compared to 2020 levels. For its part, the Swedish Government presented its road map for the development of the nuclear industry, which aims to enable “the massive expansion of new nuclear energy by 2045”.
