Millions in France have been cautioned against consuming eggs from backyard chickens due to contamination by persistent chemicals

The primary issue is the consumption of eggs from domestic cooperatives in the Île de France region, which have been found to contain elevated levels of contaminants. French health authorities have reiterated warnings to millions of residents not to eat these eggs, citing the findings of a recent study. Tests conducted by the ToxicoWatch Foundation in 2022 found very high levels of dioxins in domestic chicken houses near the largest waste incinerator in Europe, located in Paris.
