What happened

The German Air Force has begun testing a new passive radar system called Twinvis and made by Hensoldt. This new system provides a surveillance technique for ground-based air defense formations, aimed at supporting covert operations aimed at surprising adversaries. Service officials want to find out whether the technology, which measures disturbances in commercial television and radio signals that permeate crowded airspace, can provide an “early cue” about approaching threats.
