The fuel was officially delivered to the floating Nuclear Power Plant in north-east Russia. Unlike large land-based reactors that generally require fuel replacement every 12-18 months, in the case of these reactors, refuelling takes place on average once every 3 years between refuelling. The floating plant has a very large capacity to supply electricity, it is in fact replacing the Bilibino nuclear power plant as it is retired and the Chaunskaya thermal power plant which had been operating for more than 70 years. Rosatom is already in the process of constructing four floating power units and is targeting the export market.
