What happened

The Norwegian Institute of Public Health reported that E. Coli has been detected in 20 people, up from 17 previously, meaning that the outbreak is not yet over. In fact, this is one of the most serious E. Coli outbreaks in the country. 11 of those infected are children under the age of 13 and some of them have developed Haemolytic Uremic Syndrome. This disease is a serious complication associated with E. Coli infections that causes kidney failure.

The outbreak strain was found in a hamburger, but other ground meat products in which the same raw materials were used have also been recalled. The National Institute advised people to cook hamburgers, minced meat and other meat products thoroughly and to wash their hands and equipment after handling fresh and frozen meat.
