According to the army general staff, four Burkina Faso army auxiliaries and a Burkinabe policeman have been killed in an attack in the vicinity of Silmiougou. Local police sources said they killed at least 10 terrorists, forcing them to withdraw.
According to an NGO tally, over 16,000 civilians, soldiers, and police officers have perished in jihadist assaults, with upwards of 5,000 fatalities occurring since the beginning of this year. Over two million individuals have been internally displaced in Burkina Faso, constituting one of the most severe displacement crises in Africa.
