What happened

The United Kingdom has signed £4 Billion worth of contracts to build new nuclear-powered attack submarines, part of a programme called SSN-AUKUS. Partners include BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce and Babcock Marine. The contracts will take the programme forward through the design, prototyping and long-term procurement of key components for the UK’s first submarines, supporting thousands of highly skilled jobs and helping to secure the country’s economic growth ambitions, according to a UK Ministry of Defence press release.
