The decision on environmental conditions issued by General Director for Environmental Protectionis one of the most important steps in the permitting process and leads to the start of construction of the first Nuclear Power Plant in Poland by the PEJ company. The decision defines the conditions for use of the environment during the development and operation of the plant, requirements for environmental protection, requirements for countering the effects of industrial accidents, and imposes an obligation to reevaluate the environmental impact as part of the procedure for issuing a construction permit. The Polish government selected the AP1000 reactor technology for construction and Westinghouse and Bechtel have just signed a formal agreement to partner on the design and construction of the plant.
