What happened

According to the WHO Weekly Bulletin on Outbreaks and other Emergencies (Week 34: 21 – 27 August 2023), Health Authorities of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania were informed about the confirmation and death of a case of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) in Senegal with a travel history to Mauritania. Laboratory analyses at the Pasteur Institute in Dakar confirmed a recent infection with the Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever virus.
