In response to the emergence of the new COVID-19 mutation known as “EG.5.1” in various regions across the globe, Moroccan Health Authorities have put in place a set of precautionary measures to address the potential danger associated with this variant. According to reports from Morocco’s state media, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection has taken steps to reactivate digital and integrated Vaccination Centers with the aim of promoting vaccination against this evolving strain. They emphasize the vital role of vaccination in safeguarding citizens from infection.
The “EG.5.1” variant belongs to the Omicron lineage, which has been rapidly spreading in multiple countries, including areas of Asia, North America, and Europe. Health experts have observed that this variant exhibits a propensity for continuous changes, enabling it to potentially evade immunity.
