Morocco has unexpectedly become a promising newcomer in the Uranium production sector, owing to its extensive deposits of phosphate and its byproducts, constituting approximately 73% of worldwide reserves.
With an annual output of 40 million tons of rock phosphate, this supply is substantial enough to last for centuries, enabling the extraction of derivatives like fertilizers for agriculture and Uranium for generating clean energy through the conversion of yellow phosphoric acid into blue energy.
The Middle East Institute in Washington anticipates Morocco’s ascent as a significant player in the production of critical Uranium materials, potentially surpassing Australia’s current leading global reserves by three times.
