A new radionuclide diagnostics department at the National Center for Oncology and Hematology (NCHO) in Bishkek has been established through the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic project with ROSATOM. The parties are developing interaction within the framework of the IAEA technical cooperation program, which aims to develop advanced nuclear medicine technologies in Kyrgyzstan.
ROSATOM delivered a technetium-99m GT-4K generator to NCHO. This isotope is used in more than 80% of procedures on the single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) machine that has been delivered to the new department.
The center will offer an opportunity for Kyrgyzstan residents with cancer and other socially significant diseases to get access to high-tech medical diagnostics using the capabilities of the peaceful atom.
