What happened

It has been reported by officials that two Levies were killed by unidentified assailants in the Teeri area of the Mastung district in Balochistan while they were escorting a polio vaccination team. One member of the personnel lost their life instantaneously, with the other individual subsequently succumbing to their injuries whilst being transported to Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Memorial Hospital. In the aftermath of the recent terrorist attack, Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that security measures for polio vaccination teams have been augmented. He has also sought to allay public concerns by affirming the continuity of the vaccination programme. The second polio vaccination drive of the year is scheduled for the week commencing 21 April 2025. In response to the incident, Shahid Rind, the government spokesperson for Balochistan, issued a condemnation, emphasising that a comprehensive investigation into the matter is currently underway.
