What happened

The Carabinieri from the Ecological Operational Unit of Pescara, in conjunction with military personnel from the provinces of Pescara, Chieti, and Teramo, have executed the seizure of a company located in Montesilvano, Province of Pescara, Italy. This company’s operations involve the collection, processing, and disposal of ferrous waste. Local press reports indicate that substantial quantities of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, such as ferrous scrap, Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), and used vehicle batteries, were purportedly delivered to the facility without the requisite environmental permits. The investigation revealed that the total quantity of waste disposed of in a year exceeded 30,000 tonnes. This figure is significantly higher than the authorised limit, which was just over 10,000 tonnes. Over forty individuals have been reported to the judicial authorities on allegations of unlawful waste trafficking.
