The explosion of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the passage of a supply convoy escorted by the Army in the north of the country killed at least 35 people and wounded 37 others, all civilians, said the governor of the Sahel region.
Burkina Faso has to cope with the violence of armed movements affiliated to Al-Qaeda and groups of the Islamic State, which since 2015 have caused thousands of deaths and about two million displaced people.
According to the official data, more than 40% of Burkina’s territory is outside state control and attacks have increased since the beginning of the year.
