The European Centre for Disaster Medicine (CEMEC) engaged in the session entitled ‘Avian Influenza and Worker Safety: Meeting the Challenge of H5N1,’ which was organized by the Integrated Bioscience and Built Environment Consortium (IBEC) and sponsored by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). The online session took place on March 27, 2025. As a component of the ‘CLEAN Lessons Learned’ series, this session convened international experts to examine actionable methods for enhancing the safety of workers, veterinarians, and wildlife professionals. Discussions encompassed subjects such as surveillance, biosecurity, and outbreak management, facilitating a productive exchange of knowledge and experiences. This exchange integrated scientific principles with practical application, with the aim of fostering international collaboration to mitigate occupational risks and enhance preparedness regarding emerging zoonotic threats, such as H5N1.
