A diarrhoea outbreak in Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha, has affected more than 150 people, with several receiving hospital treatment. The outbreak has been ongoing for almost three weeks in Ward No. 13 of Niladri Vihar. Authorities believe that it was caused by contaminated water in a sump tank. Residents previously complained about several materials in the tank, including mud, cement, and wood. This could have compromised water safety.
A health team has been deployed to investigate the outbreak and its cause. Officials urge residents to avoid drinking unfiltered water and seek immediate medical attention if symptoms arise. These include vomiting, abdominal pain, and loose motion.
