What happened

The outbreak of a mysterious disease in Kakamega County has resulted so far in 1 death and 11 hospital admissions. The epicentre of the outbreak is in Mbaka Village, Ikolomani Constituency, and the person who died suffered from diarrhoea, headache, and chest pain. The hospitalised individuals show similar symptoms, accompanied by extreme fatigue. Dr Livingstone Mbai, Kakamega County Health Executive, said patients have been admitted at Kakamega County Referral Hospital, where samples have been taken for investigation. Health officials have urged residents to keep calm and register for the Social Health Authority (SHA). However, some locals have complained about delayed treatment and lack of proper medication.
