The member states of the World Health Organization (WHO) have reached ‘an agreement in principle’ on a text to protect the world from future pandemics. This development was revealed by the co-chair of the negotiating body and French ambassador for Global Health, Anne-Claire Amprou. According to the ambassador, the agreement will be followed by a period of deliberation and refinement, with the definition of the details and the finalisation of the text scheduled for 15 April. At this point, the delegates will convene in Geneva to draft the final document, which, upon approval by the member states, will become a formal agreement. At this time, no additional information has been revealed.
