What happened

Kenya has received 10,700 Mpox vaccine doses to boost efforts to fight the disease and protect vulnerable communities. The doses arrived on Wednesday night (April 9) in Nairobi and were received at the airport by Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni. Muthoni said the priority for vaccinations will be given to the most affected groups and called on partners across sectors to work together to build “efficient, people-centred pandemic preparedness systems.” Vaccines will be initially distributed in 14 counties, including Nairobi and Mombasa.
Kenya has so far recorded 68 Mpox cases, with one death.
