What happened

According to the WHO “Weekly Bulletin on Outbreaks and other Emergencies” (Week 39: 19 – 25 September 2022), three new wild Poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) cases are reported this week from Tete Province, including one case from a district bordering Zimbabwe.

As of 21 September, there are four cases of WPV1 in the country. The Government of Mozambique continues to respond to both WPV1 and cVDPV2 in the country.
