Dengue outbreak in Fiji: two students dead

Two students at Xavier College in Ba died from dengue. One death is directly linked to the virus, while the other is under investigation but still dengue-related. The Ministry of Health conveyed its condolences to the families and said that a medical team had been sent to Xavier College to carry out investigations and prevention efforts. Adult mosquito spraying and clean-up activities were conducted at the site and in other areas in Ba. The Ministry also urged the public to help the fight against the disease by cleaning up their surroundings and eliminating mosquito breeding grounds. From January 1, Fiji health authorities have reported over 5000 dengue cases nationwide.
