Queensland health authorities have issued an alert after a person with measles visited several tourist locations in Brisbane, on the Sunshine and the Gold Coast. The person, who had just arrived from abroad, was infectious while visiting the locations but did not know it. The visits happened between Wednesday, April 2, and Saturday, April 5. Metro North Public Health published a complete list of the places and times, asking people who were there to monitor for symptoms for 18 days from when they may have had contact with the infected patient. The locations visited are the Australia Zoo, a mini golf place, shops, hostels, restaurants, and Brisbane Central Station.
Dr Alexandra Uren of Metro North Public Health advised people who think to have measles to call ahead before visiting their GP or healthcare provider and take precautions to prevent spreading the disease to others.
