Asbestos dumped illegally in Alessandria province

The Carabinieri of Rivalta Bormida and the Forestry Unit of Acqui Terme (Province of Alessandria) discovered an illicit landfill site on a property in Strevi. The site contained several discarded materials, including plastic, wood, construction debris, metals, obsolete appliances, and two derelict vehicles. Notably, the presence of asbestos was also identified. The presence of asbestos was subsequently confirmed following a request by the local health authorities (ASL) of Alessandria, which conducted sampling and analysed the samples using the methods of Arpa Piemonte. The site, which is owned by a company in liquidation, is scheduled to undergo environmental remediation measures to safeguard public health.
