What happened

In response to the recent reports of cases in Europe linked to new genetic strains of the measles virus in the country, Moroccan health experts have asserted that the hypothesis concerning the existence of a new variant specific to Morocco is unfounded. Dr. Tayeb Hamdi, a health policy researcher, has stated that genomic analyses of the measles virus have demonstrated its stability. This means that the 24 recognised genetic strains are not susceptible to mutations that could affect the effectiveness of the vaccine. According to experts, the vaccination campaign underway in Morocco, which has involved 90% of the paediatric population, has proven to be essential for preventing epidemics and maintaining public health.
