According to reports in the local media, the Italian government is considering an investment of up to 200 million euros in Newcleo, the start-up operating within the ENEA power plant (PP) situated on Lake Brasimone in the province of Bologna, Italy. Following an institutional visit to the ENEA PP, the Italian Minister of Enterprise, Adolfo Urso, and the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Pichetto Fratin, confirmed the government’s strategic interest in participating in the creation of innovative technologies in the energy sector. They recognised the fundamental importance of these technologies in ensuring energy security, environmental sustainability, and technological competitiveness, as stated in a joint note from the Ministries. Among the projects overseen by Newcleo is the Precursor, a non-nuclear reactor with an output of 10 electric megawatts.
