UK supermarket giant Sainsbury’s has recalled a popular chocolate bar because it contains pieces of metal. The Food Standards Agency warned that the product – the Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Belgian milk chocolate honeycomb pretzel – is unsafe to eat due to the potential presence of metal fragments. The recall affects the 150g chocolate bars with batch codes LIS9Sl22 and best before date end of April 2025. Customers who have purchased the product with the affected batch code should not eat it and return it to any Sainsbury’s store for a refund. Sainsbury’s apologised for the inconvenience and said that no other confectionery products were affected by the issue.
However, there have been other recalls at Sainsbury’s in recent days. The six-pack of 250ml Appletiser cans was recalled due to the presence of an elevated level of chlorate. Newcastle Brown Ale in 550ml bottles was recalled by Heineken as it could contain glass fragments. Finally, Baxter’s has recalled its Sliced Gherkins Crunchy & Sweet 540g due to the potential presence of undeclared mustard in the product.
