Nuclear company EDF faced an unprecedented number of reactor outages this year due to maintenance delays, reducing nuclear production to its lowest level in 30 years just as Russia’s war in Ukraine hit Europe’s energy supplies.
In recent months, the French government has urged households and businesses to reduce electricity consumption by 10%, to cope with a possible energy crisis in the winter of 2023-24.
