What happened

A case of food poisoning occurred among a group of students from the Marche region of Macerata who were on a trip to Naples, Italy. The students began to feel unwell after eating at a pizzeria in the city centre. The symptoms reported by the affected students included nausea and pain, and a significant number of them had to be hospitalised upon returning home. After initiating an investigation by the Territorial Health Authority of Macerata, the Health Authorities of Naples inspected the pizzeria, thereby identifying hygiene deficiencies. Consequently, the restaurant was closed. The cause of the poisoning was not disclosed.
