Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, has lauded the armed forces, law enforcement agencies (LEAs), and the residents of Khyber Pakhtunkwa (KP) for their efforts in combatting terrorism. This commendation followed a visit by the COAS to troops stationed in Wana in South Waziristan and Chehkan in Dera Ismail Khan, underscoring the dedication and resilience of these forces in safeguarding the nation’s peace and stability. This assertion is further substantiated by data from the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), which reveals that while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa experienced a 63 percent increase in violence-related fatalities compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, it witnessed an 18 percent reduction in violence compared to the previous year.
