The attack was discovered on 13 March and affected sensitive information, including social security numbers and driver’s licences. Federal authorities and security experts have been alerted to deal with the situation. The stolen data mainly concerns individuals associated with law enforcement and legal activities in the county. According to official sources that issued the warning about the ransomware attack, the data of more than 40,000 residents of the county were affected. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and those affected will receive an official notification. At this stage, no individual or organisation has claimed responsibility for the aforementioned cyber attack. County officials have not yet responded to requests for comment regarding which services were impacted by the attack and the timeframe for the restoration of any disrupted services. In the meantime, the county has increased its security measures to prevent further attacks.
