What happened

Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Oncu Keceli informed in a statement that unidentified individuals on motorcycles opened fire on the Iraqi consulate in Istanbul. The attack didn’t cause any injuries or deaths. According to reports, the attackers used AK-47 assault rifles before fleeing. Security forces have launched an investigation and announced that those responsible will be brought to justice. The motive for the attack remains unclear. In a separate statement, the Iraqi government thanked the Turkish authorities for their swift response and stressed the importance of strengthening the necessary measures to protect diplomatic missions in accordance with international agreements.
