An outbreak of Salmonella Agona has developed in Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands. Norwegian health authorities released the results of the outbreak investigation, which showed that some batches of cucumbers from a Spanish supplier were considered a likely source of infection.
In total, 72 people living in the country have been diagnosed with the gastrointestinal bacterium Salmonella Agona. Cases of the same epidemic strain were also reported in Sweden and the Netherlands during the same period.
