What happened

A forty-six-year-old individual of Moroccan descent, residing in the Brescia region, has been apprehended on suspicion of engaging in training activities for terrorist purposes. According to law enforcement information, the suspect downloaded and saved jihadist propaganda and also sought out manuals and instructions for building homemade weaponry from publicly available sources. Authorities confiscated multiple handwritten documents containing pronouncements glorifying martyrdom and holy war from a storage facility accessible to the suspect. This investigative undertaking, initiated in November 2023, was executed by the Operational Centre for Cyber Security of Perugia and the Digos of Brescia-Antiterrorism Section, in conjunction with the Central Directorate of the Preventive Police and the Central Service for Postal and Communication Police, predicated upon intelligence obtained through covert operations.
