What happened

Pakistani security forces successfully neutralised 10 terrorists who attempted to attack a checkpost in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district of Jandola, located between the South Waziristan and Tank districts, as reported by the army’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) office. The group of terrorists was led by a suicide bomber. The military operation was accompanied by a land clearance operation to eliminate other terrorists in the area. In the preceding weeks, other counter-terrorism operations were conducted in neighbouring districts, resulting in the deaths of three terrorists in an intelligence-led operation in KP’s Tank district and 16 terrorists in a gun battle with security forces at Bannu Cantonment in KP’s Tank district. According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), security forces have intensified counter-terrorism operations, eliminating 156 terrorists, injuring 20 and arresting 66 in the month of February 2025.
