During excavation work in the Barona area of Milan, a mortar shell, presumed to be of Second World War provenance, was unearthed. In response to this discovery, the local Fire Department and the Carabinieri were promptly dispatched to the scene. They proceeded to secure the area to ensure the safety of the public. The explosive remnant of war (ERW) was then examined by the bomb disposal experts (Italian: Artificieri) from the provincial Carabinieri command, who determined its stability and the most appropriate method of defusing it. The experts will proceed to detonate the ERW in a safe location, as reported by the media.
