Sampling was conducted on March 12 and 13 using the control units installed by the company responsible for environmental monitoring in the construction site area for the controlled demolition of the remaining portion of the building that recently collapsed in Bari. The results of this sampling gave a negative result for airborne asbestos fibres. Notwithstanding, the provisions previously adopted by the municipal administration via the mayoral ordinance of 12 March remain in force. These provisions relate to the prohibition of observation, the requirement to maintain windows closed, and the requirement to utilise appropriate protective devices (masks) until notification of cessation of activities in the area adjacent to the collapse site. Environmental surveys will be conducted for the duration of construction site activities.
