Jaffar Express hijacking in Pakistan, update

The incident involving the ‘Jaffar Express’ train, which was hijacked by militants from the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) in southwestern Pakistan, has concluded. According to official sources, 300 hostages have been released and 33 militants killed. The precise number of casualties remains uncertain. On Monday, 10 March, militants claimed responsibility for the attack and asserted that they had ‘executed’ an additional 50 passengers following the killing of the same number at dawn on Tuesday, 11 March. Before the commencement of the operation to rescue the hostages, Pakistani authorities reported the deaths of 21 civilians and four soldiers.
