What happened

The head of the Italian Civil Protection, Fabio Ciciliano, has reported that the monitoring of the carbon dioxide concentration in the rooms of public buildings in the Flegrea area, conducted by firefighters, has revealed levels above the legal limits. This was the case in a school in Naples. Instrumental measurements detected a maximum concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) of 1.2%, which exceeds the legal exposure limit of 0.5%. Additionally, the measurements revealed a maximum concentration of hydrogen sulfide of 17 ppm, which also exceeds the legal exposure limit. In light of these results, the Mayor of Naples and the Metropolitan City, Gaetano Manfredi, has ordered the temporary closure of the school concerned as a precautionary measure.
