The Italian State Police official website has reported the execution of a European Arrest Warrant by Digos personnel from Bologna and Piacenza, in conjunction with the Service for Countering Extremism and External Terrorism of the Central Directorate of the Prevention Police of Rome. The warrant, issued by Spanish authorities, targeted a Pakistani citizen residing in the province of Piacenza and under investigation in Spain for offenses related to terrorism. The arrest, which occurred in Piacenza, was the result of a collaborative investigation between Spanish and Italian law enforcement. This investigation uncovered online extremist activities designed to incite violence and the assassination of those opposing their ideology, including the identification of potential targets. This operation represents the third phase of an ongoing investigation between Spain and Italy authorities. Over the preceding three years, this investigation has resulted in the arrest of approximately thirty individuals engaged in terrorist activities. In February 2022, Spanish officials apprehended five Pakistani citizens associated with the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) movement. It is alleged that these individuals were responsible for endorsing and disseminating terrorist activities through their social media accounts, wherein they lauded the actions of members of the aforementioned group.
