What happened

On Tuesday, 4th March, a statement was released informing the public that the US embassy in Somalia had warned Americans about a series of potentially imminent terror attacks planned to hit multiple locations in the city of Mogadishu, including the Aden Adde International Airport. The US embassy acted on credible information but did not divulge any further details. All embassy personnel have been instructed to remain in their current locations until further notice. The United States Department of State continues to enforce a level four travel advisory for Somalia, where it advises any US citizens who wish to move in or out of the country that terrorists are responsible for kidnappings, bombings, and other attacks in Somalia. Furthermore, crime, civil unrest, health issues, and piracy remain a constant threat to the well-being of US travellers. Terrorists might target places where large crowds tend to gather, including airports and seaports, government buildings, hotels, restaurants, and shopping areas, and with a high concentration of Westerners and foreign citizens. The methods employed in such attacks may include but are not limited to, the use of car or vehicle bombs, suicide bombers, single assailants, and mortars.
