What happened

The U.S. Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL), a division of the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) dedicated to solving interdisciplinary challenges in complex cold environments, has acquired Milrem Robotics’ most advanced unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), the THeMIS. Designed as a robust and modular platform for multiple roles such as logistics, reconnaissance, and operational support, the THeMIS is said to be further enhanced by the implementation of Milrem’s MIFIK intelligent function kit. The cutting-edge technology will be used in simulated operations in extremely cold environments in the Arctic regions to test its capabilities while advancing ongoing research into autonomous systems for cold weather operations.
