A Tennessee man has been accused of plotting a bomb attack against a federal building in Nashville. Alexander F. Thompson, from Brentwood, was arrested on March 3 for making several “electronic threats” against the Fred D. Thompson U.S. Courthouse and Federal Building. The threats were expressed on several social media accounts belonging to Thompson and involved the potential firebombing of the structure in downtown Nashville. After reviewing the suspect’s emails and posts, police detectives arrested Thompson at his workplace in Goodlettsville. He admitted having posted the threatening messages and confirmed “an intent to carry out on the threats.” He has been charged with terrorism and false reporting and remains in custody awaiting a $100,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing.
