According to French Energy Transition Minister Pannier-Runacher, nuclear energy should be given the same consideration as renewables in all European legislation. This is in line with European plans to hasten the shift from fossil fuels to cleaner electricity generation.
France has formed an alliance to accelerate the development of nuclear energy. Pannier-Runacher noted that 16 out of 27 EU member states support this fuel, while Austria, Luxembourg, and Germany do not. The French Minister stated that European legislation should exhibit technological neutrality for both nuclear and other renewable energies.
