What happened

The Islamic State of Khorasan Province (ISKP) has claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing at Darul Uloom Haqqani, an Islamic seminary in north-west Pakistan, which resulted in the deaths of at least five individuals and injuries to seventeen. Among the deceased was Hamid-ul-Haq, a prominent religious figure and the deputy curator of the seminary, as well as the leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party. It is notable that the Darul Uloom Haqqani seminar, which has been linked to the training of several Afghan Taliban leaders, follows the Deobandi school of thought, while the ISKP adheres to the more extremist Salafi ideology, with attacks on Deobandi scholars and political figures in Pakistan becoming increasingly commonplace and well-documented in recent years, as highlighted by ANSA sources.
