Reclamation has begun for ERW in Valbormida

The bomb disposal unit of the ’32nd Genio Guastatori,’ stationed in Fossano, Province of Cuneo, Italy, has commenced a sequence of operations to secure and remediate the area after the identification of Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) located on private land within the municipality of Carcare, Province of Savona. These remediation activities are scheduled to occur from February 24th to 27th, and will culminate in the transportation of the ordnance, consisting of nine 105 mm grenades and twenty 75 mm grenades, containing a total of seven kilograms of TNT, to the Camponuovo quarry in Cairo for controlled detonation. The removal of these World War II-era remnants did not require the displacement of residents from the adjacent residential zone.
