What happened

The Forlì-Cesena Forestry Group police have recently apprehended an illicit landfill site in the Italian province of Rimini. The site, which comprised a shed and an underlying expanse replete with waste, amassed 1,400 tons in total. A comprehensive inventory of the materials present in the industrial hall and the surrounding outdoor areas has revealed the presence of hazardous materials such as obsolete electronic equipment (WEEE), lead-acid batteries, mechanical components, discarded boats, household appliances, and substantial accumulations of tyres, amounting to approximately 500 tonnes of tanned leather waste. While no imminent risk to the environment or public health has been detected, ongoing monitoring by the relevant health and environmental authorities in Emilia-Romagna is mandated to ensure that any potential hazards are effectively addressed.
