Turkish intelligence captured one of the perpetrators of a 2013 deadly terrorist attack in southern Turkey. Temir Dukanci was hiding in Syria and, according to security sources, planning to reach associates in Lebanon for possible attacks against Turkish diplomatic missions abroad. In 2013, Dukanci smuggled explosives into Turkey by sea and acquired vehicles to transport them for the attack in Reyhanli, Hatay province, that killed 53 people. He was listed in the orange category of the Turkish Interior Ministry’s list of most wanted for terrorism, one of the lowest. Turkish intelligence had previously captured other perpetrators of the Reyhanli attack during operations in Syria.
