Emergency services intervened in a high school in Bury, Greater Manchester, on February 24 after reports of a suspected chemical leak. The fire brigade was on the school grounds in Heywood Road in the early afternoon and found a small chemical leak in the science preparation room that was quickly isolated. In a statement to parents and carers, the school’s headteacher said they immediately called the proper authorities after suspecting a chemical hazard and carefully followed safety procedures. No pupils were at risk of any danger. The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed receiving a call about the incident and its intervention at the school with three fire engines, which lasted around two hours.
